A few torrent softwares for linux….

With an intent of downloading a file through its torrent i started looking for the software options i had in my comp to download that torrent. I realized that there were just 2 options ktorrent and limewire. The problem with ktorrent is that i downloads for 1 min and is the download then gets “stalled” (as stated in its status area) for 5-10 min. after getting irritated with it i came to limewire and the biggest problem with it is that it doesn’t let you select the files in the torrent to be downloaded and downloads every thing in the torrent file ( if needed or not ).Another problem with it is that the speed is less and the output is not complete ( the display of no. of seed, peers etc. is missing). Then on furtherĀ  research i found out a couple of other torrent softwares. One of them was Qtorrent which unfortunately didnt work on my openSUSE 10.3 due to some missing libraries which i couldnt figure out where to download form. Next in the line came “Azureus” where i was finally satisfied and stoped my hunt for a good torrent downloadung software.

Azureus seems to be an excellent torrent software which exploits the bandwidth to the to the best maximum for downloading the files and to an extent that your surfing does not suffer. The GUI has 3 gradients targeting the beginners , intermediates and the advance users. It also provides a proxy support.

Well just had a fight to find a gud torrent software Linux so thought this information might help someone :)

have a nice day :)

Compiz is back :)

Finally Compiz is back in openSUSE 10.3….the latest update from the XGL openSUSE repo fixed the problem. But there is also another change that comes with new version of XGL… now the old command - “gnome-xgl-switch” no longer works…. now the command to start xgl is “xgl-switch –enable-xgl” and to stop it is “xgl-switch –disable-xgl”.

There are many new features added…i will test them and add new posts about them with screen shots :)
